Going monthly for a while.
The struggles in Dallas, Texas are taking a lot of time. I am learning about some practical issues, but with the time it takes to do both the Dallas and the general newsletter I haven’t made progress on the book.
I have built up with one post basically a Gay art museum of art Gay men would actually be interested in. The developments in vaccines needs only monthly reporting.
TikTok bans the comment, “being Gay is winning the lottery.”
Tiktok banned this comment. No real reason given. I don’t remember as to which video I posted this comment. I think it was in response to some anti-Gay video. I do feel that I won the lottery being Gay.
I should also, state, that in most situations, a person should feel they won the lottery to be who they are.
How to go after an extremist anti-Gay church calling for the execution of Gays.
I wrote up an analysis as to what to do and shared it with a local group running the protests and through my Dallas local newsletter. They had been successful with loud protests when the church was renting space in a strip mall, but when the church was able to purchase its own place, there was no chance that the protests would get them to move.
The initial protest got newspaper coverage, so the public is now aware of them. One of the members spoke to the Cedar Hill, Texas City Council where the church is located.
However, now it is unclear what the group protesting them is going to accomplish. They don’t have a plan either. Also, they are just needlessly scared so their Facebook group is private and people can’t read it or find their Facebook events. I got one report on Stedfast to get 304,000 views on Reddit, but there is no Facebook group to refer them to.
Given their fear they didn’t use social media. I did, and that is how their protests got coverage. If you are going go after an anti-Gay church, you have to be public and not a bunch of nervous fear ridden individuals.
Now they have declining protest attendance. Part of it is that the highs here in Dallas are reaching 107 to 109F in the late afternoon. But they have been having protests early Sunday when it was hot before.
I wrote up an analysis of what drives homophobic churches, which is the desire of individuals to deal with the problem of modern living and meaningless by joining up with a crusade. Given what drives a homophobic church, what could we do. This is what I wrote up. If you are dealing with a church calling for the execution of Gays in your area, this might be useful. Also, I show how dealing with this local church calling for the execution of Gays involves going after all the local anti-Gay churches.
Things are heating up in Dallas, Texas in the campaign against drag and protest against Pride events.
I am reporting what is happening locally and doing some activist work. I have been wanting to write the next chapter for a book, but I have to get a presentation done for a history conference.
The good news is that my local newsletter is building up an audience and I am able to influence things there.
They are going after the local Texas Latino Pride in Dallas.
They are targeting the Dallas ISD.

Weight maintenance
One of the things you need to consider is how you manage your weight once you reach target weight.
When you stop dieting what will happen is your weight will increase as you resume a non-weight loss diet. It is the so-called water weight. The thing is that you will be processing more food and that will be a bump up in your weight.
If you don’t consider how to manage this, you will psychologically be dealing with your diet failing the first day you are off of your diet.
The first thing to consider is what actually is your goal. Was it to be a certain weight or under a certain weight.
So, when you actually get closer to your goal you need to consider whether your goal was to be at that weight or under it. If your goal was to be under it, you will need to add a couple pounds more to your weight loss goal.
When you started your diet and are in the process of losing 20 or 30 or 40 pounds this small detail isn’t important, but when you need to start considering maintaining a certain weight it is important.
In a weight you are setting up psychological controls.
This is why having a starvation diet is a problem. You really will be tired of our diet and fool yourself to not actually reach your goal.
The second thing to consider is when do you consider that you have reached your goal.
When you are losing weight, you have days where you have a big drop in weight and then the next day you are up some on your weight. I think that you should consider having reached your target when the average of seven days is your target. Otherwise, you will consider you have reached your target and you really haven’t. You might starve yourself on one day and reach the target on the graph, but you really haven’t reached your target.
This is why having a starvation diet is a problem. You really will be tired of our diet and fool yourself to not actually reach your goal.
The third thing to consider is what your weight loss target needs to be for you to be your desired weight.
When you end the weight-loss diet, and are now consuming a maintenance diet, you will have more food in you and your weight will increase. It is the so-called “water weight,” and is the weight of the extra food being processed by your digestion. You might have more salt in your food which will boost your weight because of water retention.
So, if your goal is to be around 180 pounds weight, your target weight for your diet needs to be 178 or 179 pounds.
Again, this is why having a starvation diet is a problem. You really will be tired of our diet and fool yourself to not actually reach your goal.
The third thing to consider is what your maximum tolerable weight is.
What is the set point in which you aren’t going to consider it some type of temporary fluctuation and that fact that you need to do something?
The further you have drifted up in weight the longer it will be to recover your target weight. However, you don’t want to be dieting, not dieting, dieting, and responding to every fluctuation.
Items 1,2,3 all put together.
Let’s say that my weight goal was to be no heavier than 180 pounds.
I likely would need to have a target weight of 177, knowing that when I stopped the weight-loss diet, it would go up to 178 to 179, but still be under the upper ceiling of 180 so that fluctuations in weight won’t take me above 180.
Controlling your weight.
You will need to continue to monitor your weight. You probably need to have a running seven-day average to see if you are drifting up or down.
If that seems too complex, consider having so many days above a certain weight means you need to adjust.
For example, let’s say your target weight is 178 and your morning measurements of the weight are above and below that point. Set up some rules. If you have seven days of weight measurements in a row above the target of 178, consider your weight is drifting up. If you have 4 days of your weight in a row above 179, consider your weight is drifting up and a slight correction needed. If you have two days in a row above 180, consider your weight is out of control.
For those who are familiar with Statistical Process Control you will recognize what I am doing. The proposed rules aren’t mathematically designed. Maybe 3 or 5 points above 179 should be the point of being concerned. You will need to see what works for not over-reacting or under reacting.
Also, you need to critically think of what your planned diet for maintenance is if you are having to respond a lot.
What you don’t want to do is be considering changes or responding to day-to-day fluctuations, but you do want to make sure you are adjusting your diet, rather than find yourself at 185 pounds and having to diet for 20 days.
Of course, if you are in some circumstance and need to suspend weight control, three days on holiday with your relatives or on vacation with fabulous food, you will drop the control. Just remember it is about 4 days of dieting for every pound you gain. You need to have a recovery plan
Emergency food and prepared snacks
If you suddenly get a hunger surge, you are in a situation where your dieting can fall apart. Have snacks available that are low calorie. Always have fruit available.
Frozen Vegetable Mixes.
I heat them up, add in some honey and mix, along with spices. It can make a good emergency snack, or an alternative to having a salad. Don’t get the ones already seasoned.
Eating meals early when you have to go out of the house during meal time.
Eat part or all of your meal early before you leave. Or pack a snack. You don’t want to be on the road passing a lot of places with fast food when you are hungry.
Packing a lunch.
If you are out of the house during the day, on a field trip, reaching in an archive, or work, pack a lunch. The food options at work will be bad and out at restaurants will be bad.
Not a Gay issue but a couple fun tips.
I purchase Chinese food items online. The good Chinese grocery stores are beyond the other side of town.

Something to have variety when you are eating.
Another one to try is 99Ranch which is an Asian supermarket chain. The stores are huge. I get a powder mix to add to my oatmeal which I eat in the morning and avoid having a boring taste. I order like six bags of the powder packs at a time to save on postage.

You have to be somewhat adventurous in trying new things.
However, monotony is one reason you might not be able to manage your weight and variety helps you keep you maintaining your weight.
