The Opportunity of 3D printing.
A model created in 3D can be 3D printed in many types of material from metals, ceramics, plastics, and glass. They can be re-sized to be larger or smaller. They can be transmitted electronically avoiding shipping costs. With one act of creation the artist could have multiple sales and physical manifestations of his art.
It would have to be necessarily scultpure. It could be 3D printed tile or bas-reliefs. Some 3D printing machines are combination machines having machining components. 3D machines often have more than one nozzle and can do multiple materials simultaneously.
As for creating input, you could 3D scan an object or someone posing for you, or take some art work and have a model. There is the future opportunity to use software to create a bas-relief.
You can send 3D models to services to print out. They now provide 3D printing just like they provide photocopying. That way the artists doesn’t have shipping costs to deal with. Likely the services have lower shipping costs, or the customer might just pick up the object themselves when it is done.
I am doing this post to provide a post to share in different social media to hopefully either get some artists interested or find out why they aren’t interested.
For copyright control a digital number, bar code, QR code, or some other code could be encoded in a hidden part of the object or even inside it.
I think that it would be a way to get Gay art, in particular bas-reliefs and sculptures to Gays who otherwise couldn’t afford it.
Opportunity Not Pursued
I asked in all the Facebook Gay art groups about it and people thought it was a good idea, but there doesn’t seem to be anyone who has done it.
It seems that artists themselves haven’t seen 3D printing as an opportunity or perhaps they haven’t realized that 3D printing has made a lot of progress since it was first started and made known to the public.
The following was what I was able to find out about 3D printing directed toward Gays. Generally it was ancient statues with micro penises or manniken type 3d models.
If there is some website or thing I missed please let me known in the comments.
Research results
I did Googling and would find 3D data models available, but they were mostly either junk, not really Gay, or just copies of ancient statues.
I am not sure why some of these items got a “homosexual” tag in the following link.

I don’t think there is anything in this search a Gay person would want.

Lots of ancient statues and nudes like department store manikins at this site when you use the search term “nude male” (the following link).

I came across this website selling male nude 3D printed statues and downloadable files in case you want to print your own. These weren’t bad.

However, if you looked for 3D printed penises you came across more items. For example these planter pots for cacti on Etsy.

You can get a black colored planter also. They come in four colors, white, tan, brown and black, and pensis length is either long or short.

I know that in looking at current 3D art, including the above planters, there might be a tendency to dismiss the whole field, but I think that the current offerings are what they are because artists aren’t looking at this technology.
I hope to get some artists interested.
Again, if you find something I over looked let me know.
