Gay Anti-Vaxxers are STD ambassadors
Gay anti-vaxxers need to be dealt with decisively to protect our community.
I have been seeing some idiot Gay anti-vaxxer sentiment floating around so I am writing this to explain why it is a Gay issue, and how vaccination is critical for the Gay community and a big advantage for the Gay community.
If you don’t think it is critical, imagine an HIV vaccine being available in Canada and not in the United States because of some anti-vax politics. Or imagine you got HPV from some guy who you find out later is an anti-vaxxer.
Introduction
Gays often want to be aligned with some movement so badly they lack common sense on an issue. This happens across the whole political spectrum from Marxists to Conservatives, from Democrats to Republicans, they will overlook something or adopt a view contrary to the welfare of the Gay community to fit in with their political movement.
The editor of this newsletter will point out examples of ideology triumphing over the welfare of the Gay community when it happens. However, the purpose will not be to advance one partisan view over another.
Don’t be like this Gay person in Dallas who wanted to be more conservative-than-thou and ended up killing several family members with covid. (Hopefully Democrats don’t feel too smug about this, you have your own issues.)

Antivax ideology within the Gay community is severely harmful to the Gay community in four ways.

[1] Anti-vaxxer Gays represent a risk of disease to other Gays.
[2] Undermine government and institutional vaccination campaigns.
[3] Anti-vaxxer ideology undermines the support for vaccine development. Vaccines are basically the only hope the Gay community has for STDs like HIV, herpes, and other diseases.
[4] Vaccines present Gays with a major and powerful strategic advantage over anti-Gay reactionaries who are often anti-vaxxers.
Gays shouldn’t overlook safety hazards with vaccines either when they really exist, but they shouldn’t believe they exist merely because they want to fit in with some ideology or movement. Other Gays shouldn’t give antivaxxer Gays a free pass either.
It isn’t impossible that a vaccine could have problems. The recent debacle with the dengue vaccine development in the Philippines is an example. It is a special case and is a result of some special issues with the dengue disease which isn’t an issue with nearly most diseases. This is only mentioned so readers understand that the editor isn’t an ideologue on vaccines and further reads the scientific pressure on vaccines.

It should be understood dengue is really nasty and lots and lots of people lives were saved and many more avoided the suffering of this disease with this vaccine. They just needed to have spent some more time doing testing.
Further they are learning from this and at the end of the article the reader can see they are learning from it to better use the vaccine to avoid problems and they are modifying the testing of yet another dengue vaccine in Brazil.

[1] Antivaxxer Gays are a health risk to other Gays in multiple ways.

[a] For existing vaccines when they don’t get the vaccine and get sick, they might spread it to other Gays, and not just unvaccinated Gays.
Gay Antivaxxers are a higher risk to give you an STD or a disease in general. Besides not being vaccinated, they likely have other crackpot medical ideas which might result in infection.
No vaccine is 100% effective. As individuals we vary on how well the vaccine boosts our immune protection, people can be taking chemotherapy where they have inhibited immune systems. Thus, an antivaxxer getting an avoidable disease can infect a vaccinated person.
The reason that these antivaxxer aren’t a big negative impact is that they are freeloaders on the herd immunity of the Gay community. That is, they aren’t going to get sick in the first place and therefore not spread it, because the rate of vaccination is high enough in the Gay community or the general population that the disease is extinct or nearly so.
If they are returning from a trip to some place with low vaccinations and the disease is still present, I would keep your distance.

[b] Delaying or preventing the achievement of herd immunity. A small fraction of Gay antivaxxers contributes to the percentage of those unvaccinated and further discourages others from getting vaccinated and reaching the required percentage of those immunized to achieve herd immunity, and thus delays or prevents the achievement of herd immunity.
If the effectiveness of a vaccine was lower than usual, it might be that we need a really high percentage of the Gay community or the general community vaccinated and a small fraction of antivaxxers could make it very difficult for there to be herd immunity.
The Moderna mRNA vaccine for HIV is the same technology for the mRNA Covid vaccine. We hope that it works and further that it has a similar effectiveness of over 90%. It is mRNA vaccine technology for which the antivaxxers have a bee in their bonnet. We likely have a pre-existing HIV antivaxxer Gay population in the making.
Consider two scenarios.

[i] Even if it is high, the rate at which HIV infections declines will strongly depend on how rapidly the whole Gay community gets vaccinated as well as Men-who-have-Sex-with-Men (MSM) and achieves herd immunity.
Likely in the beginning there will be a waiting line for the vaccine, but at some point it will be a matter of getting people to show up and getting vaccinated. In some cases, it will be antivaxxers who will refuse to get vaccinated, and in some cases it will be a person who isn’t antivaxxer, but trying to understand the risks and possibly scared by Gay antivaxxer rhetoric.
At this point any remaining unvaccinated person is at risk for infection from those with HIV. Yes, they should practice safe-sex and it would be good for people to have Prep, but it doesn’t always happen.
Different subgroups in the MSM population will likely get vaccinated at different rates and so antivaxxer rhetoric could impact some communities more severely.
[ii] If the effectiveness of the mRNA HIV vaccine is like 70-some percent we will need very high rates of vaccination among MSM. Delays in achieving that required percentage will mean that there will be those who become sick due to that delay. The time the Gay community will have to live with the risk will be extended.
There might be subgroups of the MSM which don’t achieve herd immunity and become persistent reservoirs of HIV infection due to low vaccination rates due to anti-vaxxer sentiment.
There is the possibility the Gay community will never achieve herd immunity on HIV with anti-vaxxer sentiment.
We might be living with HIV and safe sex forever.

The article is about is how to prevent or overcome anti-vaxxer sentiment when an HIV vaccine comes out. It is about promoting HIV vaccines in India. However, in reading it you can see how there might be the same types of opposition in the United States.
The antivaxxer Gays can have negative impacts in two ways.

[a] Local, state and federal government is important to start and support getting the public vaccinated when a new vaccine is available and also to keep the public vaccinated.
Locally, in Dallas, the Dallas County Health Dept. ran a vaccination campaign for mpox (monkeypox). In 2020 and 2021, nationally, with cooperation at all levels the national government worked to get the public vaccinated requiring extensive planning, prioritization as to who gets vaccinated first, and distribution of the vaccine. It required that the FDA give priority to its review and approval process.
Antivaxxer sentiment could undermine support for vaccination. Fearing antivaxxer sentiments, local and state health departments might not conduct campaigns for vaccination, or provide support for distribution of the vaccine, or refuse to speak out against antivaxxer propaganda. They might be slow to start rolling out a vaccine campaign.
Combined with anti-Gay sentiments hoping that Gays get some disease, the vaccine might be distributed, but in ways that restrict its availability or other wise imped getting people vaccinated. Maybe filling out paperwork that results in a person being outed.
In imitation of some anti-abortion law, they might require that you watch some inane anti-vax video. If anti-Gay sex laws are back on the book, getting a vaccination might require an investigation to see if you are breaking the law.
You can almost be assured that if they have some campaign against vaccinations some anti-vax Gay people will be showcased as to make this antivax policy not seem anti-Gay.
Antivaxxer Gays can aid the antivaxxer movement in general, and undermine pro-vaccine support in the Gay community.
Imagine how mpox would have impacted your community if the local health departments were uncooperative or hostile.

[b] No vaccine campaign at all. The local county or state might not participate. In that case there might be some local private effort to get people vaccinated or you will driving out of the county or state to get vaccinated.
Even if it is able to be privately distributed in the county, it won’t have a budget to let the general public know that a vaccine is available, so segments of the MSM might not even know that a vaccine is available or where to get it and there will be no effort to reach specific communities outside the Gayborhood.
There will be no financial support, so individuals might not be able to afford the shot if it isn’t free or at a subsidized price.
Maybe some state or county or city will require special local approval of a vaccine in which will mean it won’t be available.
Imagine how mpox could have impacted your county if the county health department was unwilling to do anything.
At a national level the FDA in the hands of antivaxxers might not have any competent staff to process applications for approval of a vaccine or they might nitpick any application so vaccine approval is delayed years or never happens.
You might be booking a flight to Canada or Mexico or Bermuda to get vaccinated, but it is very likely that most MSM won’t get vaccinated. You will likely have to keep it secret since like with abortion laws, they will make leaving the state to get vaccinated illegal.
A highly effective mRNA HIV vaccine might become available, but your local county seeing the initials “mRNA” won’t
[3] Anti-vaxxer ideology undermines the support for vaccine development. Vaccines are basically the only hope the Gay community has for STDs like HIV, herpes, and other diseases.

The vaccines that we are hoping for might never happen.
The current campaigns to develop vaccines for HIV, herpes, gonorrhea, and other STDs might just come to a halt if the companies developing vaccines are being harassed. American pharmaceutical companies might just stop vaccine development.
Further, a lot of vaccine development depends on years and years of federally supported research and federal funding for testing that costs a lot of money. Funding could be cut back.
It will be critical that there is strong support for bioscience development to be the basis of new types of vaccines in the future and improved vaccines in the future.
If an HIV vaccine comes out with 70% effectiveness, we will be very happy, but we also will look forward to the 80% effective vaccine, the 90% effective vaccine, and newer versions getting closer and closer to 100%.
Again, Antivaxxer Gays can aid the antivaxxer movement in general, and undermine pro-vaccine support in the Gay community.
Scientists and doctors at universities and medical institutions might face discouragement or harassment. Vaccine researchers might be subject to registration and fees and face annual review before boards of local antivaxxer crackpots.
FDA approval committees could have antivaxxer crackpots and even the FDA might be headed by an antivaxxer crackpot.
Even if the future is that vaccines will be coming from foreign nations, there could be some campaign to delay approval or refuse approval. Without the American market for vaccines and the American infrastructure of medical research the development of vaccines will likely be much slower than it is now.
Again, with the growing influence of antivaxxer ideology, important vaccines for STDs might never come.

The reputation of anti-vaccine Christians is taking a beating globally.

Not just in the United State, but globally anti-Gay Christian groups rejected and condemned getting vaccinated for covid or ignored covid safety. They often acquired a negative image before the public for their antivaxxer views.

The reporting was that 700 children died of measles in an outbreak made possible by anti-vaxxer Christian views. What was the total extent isn’t known, since statistics stopped being forthcoming.

The United States media has a lot of reporting about Evangelical Christians opposing vaccination. Though the media doesn’t mentions that they are Evangelical Christians being opposed to covid vaccinations, they avoid the anti-Gay connection.
This article reports that some Christians think that the vaccine has luciferase, which it doesn’t, and has nothing to do with Lucifer the devil, but to bioluminescence.
Stories like this portray Evangelicals as lunatics.

This article reports that the CDC finds the rate of vaccination by Gays and Lesbians to be significantly higher than straights.
Gays look very sane while anti-Gay Evangelicals come across as crazy. We should point out the covid theology of churches that speak out against Gays.

The Greek Orthodox Church is viciously anti-Gay, but also had anti-vax elements. They started dying, a lot.

This radio host used to mock people dying of AIDs.
The National Religious Broadcasters fired one of their executives for being pro-vaccination. His voice could have saved the lives of many anti-Gay Christians, but they fired him and intimidated other Christians that might speak for vaccination.
This person was the head of a group which was anti-Gay and the scope of which covered Latin America.
Anti-Gay leaders major and minor were dying of covid globally. Their followers who followed their anti-vax and anti-covid safety likely died of covid also. At this Facebook page I posted links to stories of one anti-Gay pastor or talk show host who were anti-vaxxer and who died of covid.

Some conservatives noticed that it was conservative voters who were dying due to anti-vaccine sentiments. You don’t have to have a degree in political science to understand that if your voters are terminating themselves, you might lose elections since your voters are dead and also unable to make campaign contributions. Persons who get covid can also suffer from long covid, which means they have medical bills and likely can’t contribute donations to a campaign or do campaigning.
The institutions that support the conservative movement, have less influence and are less able to support the conservative movement when their membership has shrunk due to death and many of their members suffer from long covid.
At Breitbart, conservative news webpage, columnist John Nolte, recognizing this problem for conservatives, tried to get conservatives to get vaccinated.

This anti-Gay pastor wanted to know why more Democrats aren’t dying of covid.

It would be unethical to encourage antivaxxer beliefs, but you aren’t obligated to discourage them among anti-Gay Christians either. Also, even if you tried to dissuade anti-Gay Christians, they are impervious to reason, you are wasting your time.

Our advantage
.
[i] If Gays and the LGBT+ are vaccinated and Anti-Gay Christians continue to refuse to get vaccinated, we live and they die or are impaired. We survive and fewer anti-Gay Christians are living and able to vote against us, denounce us and to campaign against us. It is just that simple. During covid we watched many, many anti-Gay leaders died, and of the 2 million deaths, it is very likely that the proportion of anti-Gays among them was much, much higher than the general population.
This isn’t just with covid, but any vaccination, we have an ongoing edge against them.
Further, covid was on average 1% fatality rate roughly, and it hit the elderly and those with other factors. The next one could be like Marburg or Ebola where the great majority die and are severely sick. With the next epidemic the Evangelicals might wipe themselves out as they refuse safety precautions and vaccinations. Even those Evangelicals who might take medical science seriously will be among those who don’t, and die anyways.
[ii] We can point out the insanity of the anti-Gay Christians as they refuse vaccination as long as the Gay community is seen as pro-vaccine. The general public is angry over anti-vaccine rhetoric. The credibility of anti-Gay Christians will be shredded and they won’t be credible when they campaign against Gays.
Summary

Again, we need to be pro-vaccine for the following reasons.
[1] Anti-vaxxer Gays represent a risk of disease to other Gays.
[2] Undermine government and institutional vaccination campaigns.
[3] Anti-vaxxer ideology undermines the support for vaccine development. Vaccines are basically the only hope the Gay community has for STDs like HIV, herpes, and other diseases.
[4] Vaccines present Gays with a major and powerful strategic advantage over anti-Gay reactionaries.
We need to oppose anti-vaccine sentiment to protect our heath and improve it. Being a highly vaccinated community, we have a strategic advantage over anti-Gay Christians who in contrast will have higher mortality and impairment than Gays.

The Anti-Anti-Vaxxer Gay Campaign

We need to emphasize these four previously mentioned points in ways that are quick for the Gay community to understand. We need to apply pressure on anti-vaxxers to get vaccinated or at least stop trying to dissuade others from doing so.
Actions:
[1] One method is to get the members of the Gay community to realize how Gay anti-vaxxer sentiment impacts them immediately and personally.
The title, Gay anti-vaxxers are ambassadors for STDs is just one slogan. Others can be created. You can point out that if the person hates the mRNA covid vaccine, how likely is it that the anti-vaxxer will go get the mRNA HIV vaccine.
We can point out that the anti-vaxxer Gay is not likely to have gotten the mpox vaccine, or hepatitis A&B vaccine, or meningitis, or HPV vaccine.
Even diseases like measles are a risk. After all, most Gay got their measles vaccine decades ago, and potency of that vaccination is likely to have diminished over time.
The basic message is that the body of the anti-vaxxer Gay is likely a possible source of infection.
[2] Educate the Gay community that anti-vax Gays are a threat to getting an HIV vaccine or any other new vaccine for STDs with their support of the general anti-vax movement.
[3] Educate the Gay community that anti-vax Gays are a threat to having government support when there is another STD outbreak like mpox with their support of the general anti-vax movement.
[4] Educate the Gay community that we have an opportunity to live while our enemies die or are impaired with no effort on our own. This means getting fully vaccinated for everything, not just STDS.
Of these four actions, the first action is the most powerful since it speaks to the immediate self-interest of Gay people, not to get sick.

Pro-Vaccine Campaign.
1. Get vaccinated so you are protected.
2. Get vaccinated because there is a growing anti-vax movement and in the future there are likely to be outbreaks of diseases which haven’t occurred in the recent past. Measles for example or polio.
3. Get vaccinated so you can laugh at the dead anti-Gay Evangelical who said AIDS was God’s punishment and was ranting against vaccines.
