Is Pansexual just Sapiosexual renamed?
Sapiosexual was a little too obvious in terms of its intent so I think basically pansexual was substituted for those who would claim such an identity. These are people who the Urban Dictionary defines as, “one who finds intelligence the most sexually attractive feature.”
The title of the article is, “Pretentious is Not Sexual Orientation,” with the subtitle being, “It has to be one of the stupidest sexual ‘identities’ to come along in years. This is the link.

I don’t think I can improve on this essay or add to it so I am just going to share the link to it here.
I would point out that the original slogan of pansexuals was “hearts not parts.” That was dropped when Gays and bisexuals pointed out that they had romantic interests also, and the obvious anti-Gay and anti-bisexual meaning of this slogan was pointed out.
So now you can find pansexuals who state Pansexual, “their attraction as focusing on personality rather than gender.”
Basically it sounds like sapiosexual being repackaged.
