Sideloading Apps is a Gay issue. Indonesia banned Gay apps, and Apple & Android censor Gay apps. Sideloading by passes them.
Sometimes an unrelated thing has a big impact on Gay life.

Seemingly unrelated issues can have a Gay impact. Sideloading and censorship.
Side loading is when you can load into your smartphone an app that isn’t from Apple or Google.
The East Asian Gay app, Blued, has 40 million users as of 2022.
Apple company caved into Indonesian authorities and removed Blued from its store.
Google also did the same.
If you had what they called sideloading, it wouldn’t have had an impact. People could have gone to another site and downloaded Blue or any other Gay app.
Sideloading is when you can install a program from someplace besides the Google Store or Apple Store. The Android and IOS people make this extremely difficult to do.
Blued had been able to dodge Indonesian government suppression by changing servers all the time.
However, when Apple users in Indonesia couldn’t download the app, the Indonesian Gays couldn’t get it.
This should also tell you regardless of what a company might say about being Gay friendly or even if they have a Gay CEO, in the end they are a business maximizing profits.
Gays need sideloading so they can bypass censorship. Even when Gay apps are permitted, they have to have all sorts of self-censorship to pass requirements, and Apple is evidently the most sanctimonious. Every app wants to be both on Android phones and Apple phones. So even if you have an Android phone, the Apple Store people effectively decide what you can have on your Android phone.
The European Union (EU) is supporting sideloading to break monopolistic practices. Apple is fighting it every step of the way.

There are reports online that Apple is trying to maintain some type of restrictive control over it. However, the EU officials aren’t stupid.
For Gays sideloading is an issue, and Gays should be for sideloading. Ignore the scare tactics. Yes, if you just sideload anything you are likely to get into trouble. You will have to make sure it is a trust source. However, the Google Play store has had apps offered with malware also, because they are sloppy.
Even though we are not in Indonesia, the Gay apps here are constrained by limits defined by some moralistic team of straight people concerned about their corporate image as a priority. Remember it was Verizon corporate that crushed Tumblr.
We constantly hear of Gay artists being censored on social media. If we had our own sideloaded apps on Android and Apple, we wouldn’t have to worry.
We should support sideloading everywhere.
By the way: It seems our so-called LGBTQXYZ leadership totally ignores this issue because what would the straight people think if they were asking for apps where you could see Gay men’s stuff.
