Taiwan Security and Chinese Gay Freedom
The Chinese LGBT risks being snuffed out if Taiwan is invaded by Mainland Chinca
I have created a Facebook Group, LGBT for Taiwan.

The Following is a pinned post. The climate for LGBT has gotten a lot worse very quickly. At the same time Taiwan is being threatened. I think it is time to mobilize, but I don’t want to be pulled into right-wing movements. We will want to be very careful. So the following. At the Facebook group are a lot of links about the repression of LGBT in China.

It should be clear that the security of Taiwan is critical to the continuation of a Chinese LGBT movement in the future and for that matter the flow of a East Asian LGBT movement into the future.
The repression of the LGBT in mainland China has rapidly intensified. LGBT events are shut down, LGBT media is repressed, and the repression of LGBT seems to be intensifying. This is occuring in the midsts of a general movement of cultural repression in mainland China.
However, since Taiwan is functionally independent, there can still be a Chinese LGBT movement. If the mainland takes over Taiwan the existence of a Chinese LGBT movement will be at an end. Singapore is repressive of LGBT also, and there will only be just residuals of any Chinese language LGBT movement.
Also, it is in Taiwan that the LGBT movement is most flourishing and serves as a role model for other nations. In Korea the LGBT struggles against hostile Christians. In Japan the LGBT are also repressed. In Thailand the LGBT movement is there but nothing compared to Taiwan.
Also, in Taiwan a LGBT movement can exist that is authentically of East Asia and not of the West. We need to have the LGBT movements exist outside the Western world. We don't want all our eggs in one basket.
HOWEVER, I don't think the world's LGBT should be a tool of American geopolitics. Our goal is to hope that Mainland to stop repressing LGBT. Also, without the repression of LGBT on the mainland we don't have necessarily a position. However, given how fast the repression has occured against the LGBT we have to wonder how safe LGBT are in a nation dominated by the current CCP.
However, also we don't want to take a position against the Communist parties of all nations. Gays seem to be doing fairly well in Vietnam. They have pride events.
So I think our efforts should be narrowly focused to safeguard the LGBT in Taiwan specifically in response to a clear and present danger.
What can be done now.
1. Point out that there is a danger that the entire Chinese LGBT movement could come to an abrupt end. I don't think people understand the danger. Post in your local Facebook groups an explanation of what the impact would be if Taiwan was subject to anti-LGBT repression.
2. A lot of leftists in American are dismissing the danger to Taiwan. I can understand this to some extent, America is always off to get involved in some military adventure which proves to be a disaster for everyone involved. I think the danger to the LGBT can be brought up.
3. In the United States support for military aid to Taiwan should be a policy of LGBT. Island have great abilities to be defended. Switerland has been able to survive surrounded by great malicious powers.
4. Elsewhere make sure people know about the repressive policies of the CURRENT mainland Chinese goverment. In your BL Facebook group, in Mydramalist conversations and elsewhere let people know that there will be no more productions of LGBT Chinese language materials.
5. Start organizing. There should be other groups with Facebook pages in other languages for other nations.
