Imagine social media with no place for uncensored Gay art.
Recently I had a conversation with a Gay artist about using Twitter to avoid censorship. The artists rejected using Twitter because of the politics of Elon Musk.
This article isn’t about defending Elon Musk or attacking him or debating about him and his policies.
What I am concerned about is the ability of Gay art to be online without censorship.
What I want to point out is that on all the other social media platforms there is censorship and sometimes severe censorship of Gay art.
I think we need to get a grip on the reality of our situation and look out for our interests because no one else is. My solution which I argue for in this article may not be the only solution, but I think we need to start discussing how Gay art survives on social media.
Update: This isn’t to say that Twitter doesn’t have problems. Some artists have their Tweets protected. Some Twitter accounts have been eliminated.
Backstory
The crushing of Tumblr
It wasn’t some conservative movement that crushed Tumblr’s adult content in 2018, it was a corporation worried about being in the Apple store and Apple banning it.

The recent loosening loosening of the ban has been very limited and not really useful for Gay art.
By the way, the Apple Store in Indonesia banned Blued, a Gay app, caving into the Indonesian governments anti-gay policies.
Tumblr banned #Gay hashtag searches in 2013.

The reason was attributed to Apple Corp. Yes, liberal California, progressive Apple was crushing Tumblr and censoring Gays.
But, it turns out, this might not have everything to do with Tumblr, its new owner Yahoo, or the company's new stance on explicit content. Rather, Apple and its prudish app store guidelines are the most likely culprit. At least that's what Tumblr claims, per a blog post by Tumblr CEO David Karp (emphasis ours):
Tumblr has never recovered and Gays have moved to other social media platforms.
OnlyFans nearly was crushed.
Then there was OnlyFans deciding to ban adult content. Adult performers were most of the reason the corporation had any value, but they wanted to ban adult performers.
What motivated them to do this was to avoid being banned by banks and credit card companies. The title of this ArsTechnica article is “OnlyFans ban sexually explicit content to appease banks and payment services.”
It wasn’t lead by some right wing conservative group.
They reversed their decision when they realized that their company won’t have much value.
This wasn’t an attack driven by right wingers. The LGBTQXYZ press was totally quiet and to know about this you had to be reading non-LGBT sources.
Facebook and Instagram censorship
The Gay Facebook groups have it set up so you can NOT share posts. The posts are often with patches over parts of the picture.
Gay artists have to censor their material for Instagram and Facebook. I am sure Threads will turn out to be censorious as well.
I had a Gay Agenda post pulled from the Gay Partisan Facebook group and got a warning. It is an oil painting, but some censorious person in Facebook didn’t like it.
The post was of this newsletter.
What is driving this censorship?
None of the establishment LGBTQXYZ groups care that Gay which is nude or explicit is being massively censored.
The liberal movements don’t care that Gay art that is explicit or just nude is censored.
If you are carrying water for them, remember they aren’t carrying water for you.
It is the feminist movement which is crushing or attempting to crush the spaces where Gay art might exist. This article argues that the world would be a better place without pornography, and the straight world generally thinks Gay art is pornographic.
Also, there is no way the liberal establishment will say Gay porn is okay, we just ban straight porn.
It goes back decades.
Systematically the feminist movement is going after porn. They have both support on the left and right for this.
There is a counter feminist voice to this, but it is a very small voice.
Twitter: Last refuge for Gay art is under assault.
This is a site which hopes to ban porn from Twitter. They specialize is moral hysteria over sex.

Gail Dines who is the head of it, is a former professor in woman’s studies.

The anti-porn groups use legitimate concerns over sexual exploitation of minors to shut down sites. The goal isn’t to eliminate sexual exploitation from the sites or have more effective ways of preventing it, the goal is to shut down the platform.

We need to know our own interests.
The liberal/left political movements who are against Twitter absolutely don’t care about there being a space in social media for Gay art. Yes, there might have been a stray voice here and there against the crushing of Tumblr and the attempted crushing of OnlyFans, but in general it isn’t a priority.
It is progressive San Francisco Bay Area Apple corporation which was putting pressure on Tumblr. It was Verizon which made the decision to crush Tumblr to appease Apple. Not some Evangelical Christian movement.
The censorship campaigns which result in the censorship of Gay art on social media come from the same establishment/corporate and liberal-left feminist forces who are hostile to Elon Musk.
The liberal/left, feminists, and corporate establishments won’t care that there is no place for Gay art when they crush Twitter.
Gay people need to look for the cracks in the system. We need to act in our own interests. We shouldn’t be supporting campaigns which will crush Gay art.
This doesn’t mean we should be pro-Musk either. We just need to survive in the world as we find it.
If Twitter goes under where will uncensored Gay art go?

fight!!!
WordPress does not censor gay art. There's fullblown nudity all over that place!
