Why the expression “Inner temple Gay”? It just came to me when I was thinking about being Gay and Gay life. It is a metaphor to capture an idea about being Gay.
Temple
A temple is a place where you separate yourself from the world and practice rites or venerate something divine or contemplate or mediate about life and existing in your religion.
As applied to Gays, the temple is a metaphysical place where we exist as Gays and where we appreciate being Gay and give our appreciation for the Gays who have gone before us and give our hopes for the Gays which will come after us. It might through the appreciation of Gay art and literature, in the reading of Gay history, in our efforts to make the future a better place for Gays.
It is a place where we think how to oppose evil, the anti-Gay forces in the world.
It is those moments when we think about our being Gay and what lives we might live, what paths we might take as Gay people.
It is where we resolve to be good to other Gay people.
Inner
The “inner” part is that we think about being Gay and living as Gay people away from heteronormativity. Away from the pressures to be Respectability Gays and away from the judgmental and uncomprehending straight people, away from the pressures of assimilation.
In the inner temple away from the noisy din of straights we can be Gay people thinking about Gay things and talking about Gay things.
Who
The inner temple Gay is a Gay person who thinks that he is very fortunate to be Gay.
When people argue that Gays are born that way, he doesn’t see it as a reason to justify his existence with the reasoning, “that since we are born that way, we can’t help it.” Instead, he understands it meaning that if he was born straight there would be nothing, he could do to become a Gay person and appreciate how lucky he was to be born Gay.
The inner temple Gay is a Gay man. He is a man with homosexual desires. Having sex with another man is a sacrament in his religion. He imagines himself as being part of a Gay community. He imagines himself to be the object of desire by another man.
The inner temple Gay isn’t a bisexual who inherently has ties into heterosexuality and the straight world. He isn’t a transman or some imagined thing that seeks to appropriate the Gay community for their own use. He isn’t an asexual who seeks to appropriate Gay people for his own use.
As an inner temple Gay, he isn’t a pansexual interloper who denies inherently having homosexual desires and asserts that he is superior to ordinary physical desires.
He isn’t anything that fears being called Gay or denies being Gay or imagines some identity which he doesn’t call Gay.
An inner temple Gay person has a Gay past, Gay present, and a Gay future.
Purpose
An inner temple Gay respects the Gay community and has concerns for the welfare of the Gay community and its members.
