Given the right-wing interpretations of a Haka interrupting a Pride Parade in Auckland, as being the pure uncorrupted indigenous fighting Western decadance I thought I would share this article about the Maori giving up Christianity.

Between 2006 and 2018, the proportion of Māori identifying with ‘no religion’ on the census increased from 36.5% to 53.5%. This change coincided with a substantial decline in Māori affiliation with Christianity (from 46.2% to 29.9%). Similar patterns were observed among Māori who reside in Australia (Nixon Citation2016). If Māori are disaffiliating from Christianity at roughly the same rate (∼17%) as the category of ‘no religion’ is expanding, does this indicate that atheism is on the rise? Despite these dramatic shifts, we know little about Māori nonreligion or what sits behind these patterns of religious change on the census.

The Maori aren't the only group to realize that Christianity is the religion of their former colonizers, but perhaps they have acted upon it more dramatically.

Again, before I discuss the haka performed by Destiny Church in Auckland, New Zealand halting the Pride parade I want to remind people that the Maori's are in general giving up Christianity as a decolonization project.

Destiny Church had a haka that disrupted a library event prior to this recent halting of the Pride parade. On Feb. 15, 2025, they blocked the Pride Event with a haka. No arrests were made in either case. We can expect that Destiny Church will continue this harrassement of the LGBT since there were no consequences excepting the Mayor and others saying that the Destiny Church people were naughty. Notable was that the LGBT just stood there watching.

Up to now Christian protests against Pride Parades, were confined to groups like Westboro Baptists standing on the side of the parade saying hateful things with their signs hoping to instigate conflicts.
Globaly homophobes have reported on the haka stopping the Pride parade and applauding it and surely noting that it was successful. Viewership on X alone was in the tens of millions. I think that we can expect other groups to follow their example. This is a post reporting on the response of homophobes to the haka globally.

However, this haka in Auckland, though an increase in aggression attacking the LGBT, is far from what could happen. In South Korea there are attempts by Christians to violently attack Pride events.
As a contrasting example, this is a report on African Americans defending their neighborhood when an anti-Islamic group decided to show up with guns in front of a Nation of Islam mosque. Though many of the respondants were not Muslims, nor members of the mosque, and of competing groups, they all showed up in quasi military gear and armed. I work with Yafeuh Balogan, the co-founder of the Huey Newton Gun Club on historical projects in renaming the built environment. He told me that besides the organizations, African Americans individually just went home and got their guns and showed up. I am sharing this with the Gay community as an example of a successful defense to learn and adapt to our needs.
Not only did the anti-Islamic group retreat, the establishment through the voice of our major daily, the "Dallas Morning News" was quite upset by their actions.

A movement which purport to be representative of the interests of a community, loses credibility when its policies undermine the security of a community.
As the situation deteriorates in Texas, "Fighting hate with love," is losing credibility.

FIRE, the ACLU, and the National Coalition against Censorship have demanded that the art of Sally Mann, confiscated by Fort Worth police from the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, be returned.

The Christians are gloating over their victory.
The Christians here have a never ending stream of sex scandals. There are three investigative persons will a full time job reporting on Evangelical and Pentecostal sex scandals often involving underage individuals. The newspapers frequently have reports of some sex scandal.

So it isn't surprising that these Christians see child porn in most anything.
The standard of what constitutes child porn in Fort Worth is so expanded that the Sistine Chapel would be included.

I will be sending this report to the Fort Worth City Council. Perhaps they will raid the public libraries and book stores for books showing pictures of the ceilings of baroque cathedrals.

Franklin Rhushenge’s story in “Otherwise Magazine,” is about a predatory Gay person who is trying to lure him with money and is stalking him. It is their “Featured Story” at their webpage.

“The reason why he had called me was that he wanted to be in a romantic relationship with me, he revealed. And if I agreed, he said, he would take charge of me. Then he showed me a bundle of money.”
“I avoided traveling the way I used to travel because of him. I was very clear that I didn’t want to be in a romantic relationship with him, but he didn’t stop following me. I felt scared and insecure because he didn’t listen to my request.”
The person writing the account is supposed to be very stressed and scared.
In anti-Gay propaganda in Africa one of the ideas put forth is that young men are lured into homosexuality by offers of money.
Also, there is the claim that youths turn Gay to get out of refugee camps.

Uganda is a truly horrible place to be Gay. The people who are stressed and scared are the Gays there who seek to leave.
I haven’t been able to track down the connections of “Otherwise Magazine.”
In investigating locally homophobic churches, denominations, and organizations, I find that there is dissimulation about the homophobic intent. Perhaps my ability to detect concealed homophobia is better than most.
However, with all the people on this listserv claiming to be some type of social justice advocates for the “queer” community, more than one person should have picked up on the intent of this post.

My visits to Thailand and Taiwan was because I sensed that there are different ways of being Gay that I don't imagine since I am in the United States.
The Anglophone world is still the world of self-righteous Calvinism, with its Elect and Damned, which includes the academic community.

I am concerned that this cut off will impact HIV infected people in poor nations.

In 2024 the Gallup Poll released results and the public was informed that the percentage of those who identitied as LGBTQ+ had risen to 7.3%.
But closer examination of the results, in a table in the Gallup poll results it showed that it was mostly young women who now thought they were Bisexual. This got considerable commentary that undermined the idea that there was this great coming out.

Bisexuality has always been an interesting catagory.
Prior to Grindr the bisexual male person that you met was some person at the Gay bar or club or social function that maybe kissed a girl 17 years ago. Often sometime later the person who say that it was about accepting being Gay.
With Grindr now you can meet bisexuals outside the clubs and it is someone who messages you explaining that his date with his girlfriend is over at 11:00 pm and are you interested meeting up later.
Now we have this new class of women who are bisexual, but date men. It is largely harmless, they don't seem to be in Lesbian social spaces. Though at the last Pride event I went to in Dallas, I was left wondering where the Gay people were. It was a fun crowd and likeable, but there has now been organized another Pride event in the Gayborhood where there are actually a visible presence of Lesbians and Gays.
Bisexuality is a sort of metaphysical thing, with men we don't connect people with penile plethsymographs to check sexual orientation. It is a self-declared identity.
Recently Gallup in 2025 released their 2024 data and there were all sorts of declarations and the percentage of LGBTQ+ was proclaimed to be even higher.
However, in the 2025 report, something was MISSING. The table of identity by gender and age. The likely fact that it would become obvious that it was just young women cosplaying being bisexual as part of social contagion was avoided. Maybe some term can invented for bisexuals women who only date men, they can be given a flag.

It becomes evident how the initialism LGBTQXYZ+, which is up to 14 letters now, is used to obscure and not reveal, and when some data undermine triumphal claims you can just not release it.
